"Thank you for your excellent help handling conveyancing for my clients in my time of crisis."

Grant Knight, Solicitor

Small but perfectly formed Established in 2006, PLS is a small legal practice with an expanding base of happy clients. We're Edinburgh-based but distance is no object - we currently delight clients as far afield as Vietnam. We're small but our clients tell us we're perfectly formed!

Gill Maclean WS. . .

Knows her stuff Gill has been a solicitor for 27 years, much of that time at partner level at J and RA Robertson, Edinburgh; Paris Steele, North Berwick; and now at PLS. She is also a Consultant to Erskine Macaskill, and runs their property and estate agency department. As Gill will always handle your affairs personally, you are guaranteed the best possible advice.

Is business savvy As a small business owner/manager herself, Gill particularly enjoys working with small and medium-sized businesses and always goes the extra mile to help. She is a Law Society committee member and likes to give her grey matter an extra workout by tutoring newly qualified solicitors on the Professional Competence Course.

Is hot property Gill has extensive knowledge of property, having owned, let, bought and sold commercial and residential investment property for many years. She previously owned property abroad, and currently owns and lets two commercial properties and a holiday property in Gullane, East Lothian, www.theapartmentgullane.co.uk

Relaxes, occasionally Gill enjoys cooking up a storm, (not always appreciated by her two teenagers), entertaining, walking her two dogs, reading, travelling and learning languages (French, Italian and Spanish). Her current obsession is India and a trip is on the cards this year. She confesses to "an unreasonable phobia of public speaking" and aims to overcome this fear within the next twelve months - watch this space! She also plans to write a book.

Nicki Hunter, Paralegal. . .

Is indispensable It's true what they say. Behind every great woman there's another great woman! As Gill's PA, Nicki deputises for Gill on all matters, always knows where she is and how to contact her, and deals quickly and effectively with all client queries.

Defines multi-tasking Nicki has a wealth of experience both in life and work. Before becoming a Paralegal, she worked in the restaurant trade, owning her own restaurant for several years (her carrot cake is to die for). She also managed two of Ian Mellis' cheese shops and was warehouse manager for Rodgerson's Shoes. When she's not keeping the PLS engine running smoothly, Nicki heads back to East Lothian to enjoy walking, riding, cats, reading and going to the gym.

Karen Gibson, Trainee Paralegal. . .

Karen joined PLS in December 2007. Assisting Gill and Nicki in all aspects of the day to day work within the office, she is rapidly becoming another indispensible part of the PLS team. She is often seen out and about town in her distinctive little red car expertly wending her way through the traffic on office business. She will take her paralegal exams within the next few months and hopes to move on to University in the future to do either a Law Degree or a Degree in English Literature.

In her spare time Karen enjoys going out to nightclubs as well as taking care of her horse, Kate. She is currently trying to hone her skills in the kitchen and plans to start a ballet class in the Summer.
